Meet Jill McCormick, MS, RD, LDN
Helping others discover principles of good nutrition has been a lifelong passion for me. Over 30 years ago, I began my career at Cornell University where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutritional Sciences . After graduation, I completed a Dietetic Internship at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut to become a Registered Dietitian (RD). During my internship, I gained more than 1200 hours of supervised practical clinical, food service and community nutrition experiences. During the internship, I also worked with a team of healthcare professionals at a summer camp for children with Diabetes.
After becoming an RD, I first worked at Yale New Haven Hospital as a Clinical Nutrition Specialist, and gained experience working with clients with diabetes, heart disease, kidney and liver disease, cancer and various other gastrointestinal and immune diseases. I also worked as a Pediatric Nutrition Specialist on a pediatric floor with a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
I subsequently went to graduate school at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA, to further my education in nutritional sciences. While attending graduate school, I worked as a clinical teaching assistant, working with other graduate students who were pursuing the path towards becoming Registered Dietitians. I also worked on my Master’s Thesis with a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit dietitian and with pediatric specialty dietitians in a Pediatric Pulmonary Nutrition Traineeship.
After earning a Master of Science Degree, also in Nutritional Sciences, I worked on a medical/surgical floor at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA, and most recently, for St. Luke’s University Health Network in Easton, PA. Beyond my extensive clinical background, I have worked in the community to provide nutrition education and counseling for groups from stay-at home-parents to school groups and athletic teams. In March 2017, I completed the Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management Program and in September 2017, I completed the Certificate of Training in Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management, both with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. I have maintained my registration status as a Registered Dietitian by completing a minimum of 75 continuing education credits every five years (since 1989).
Throughout my entire career, it has been my passion to work with others to apply sound, science-based principles of nutritional science as the cornerstones of general health and wellness and as treatments for various conditions and diseases. Simply Stated Nutrition is my endeavor to spend time doing what I love to do most: talking with people about how small changes can positively impact health and well-being, and helping them to identify and achieve personal goals for a healthier lifestyle. It would be my honor and pleasure to share in this experience with you at Simply Stated Nutrition.
