FAQs
How often will I see my Registered Dietitian?
During the first appointment, we will decide on a follow-up schedule that works for you. In addition, we will consider your insurance coverage. For most, we will ideally meet 1-3 weeks after your first appointment to monitor your progress and update your Nutrition Care Plan. From there, we may meet every 2 weeks, once per month or approximately 4-6 times per year, depending on what we decide when we create your Nutrition Care Plan. For weight management, we will ideally meet once per week for the first month and then approximately two to three times per month for the remainder of the first six months. After six months, we will re-evaluate how often to meet.
Will my nutrition counseling sessions be covered by my insurance?
Insurance coverage is highly variable and ever changing. Coverage often depends on what benefits you and your employer select, deductible amounts, specific diagnoses, and maximum yearly allowances for your contract. Prior to your Initial Consultation, Simply Stated Nutrition will verify your benefits with your insurance company. In addition, we request that you complete our Insurance Script with your insurance company in order to understand your benefits as to what nutrition services are/are not covered.
Why choose an RD?
Did you know that all Registered Dietitians are Nutritionists, but not all Nutritionists are Registered Dietitians? As you search for a good fit for a nutrition counselor or educator, I urge you to be attentive to credentials. As stated on the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics website, eatright.org, “only a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist has completed multiple layers of education and training established by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).” Please visit eatright.org for more information on what a RDN Can Do for You.
